For every Famous Freemason there are 1,000's if not 10,000's of 'ordinary' men. Although Freemasonry admits men of all creeds, colours, faiths and nationalities, it is not interested in those attributes as such, and therefore does not record any of those details in the membership records. That means, for example, that it is impossible to tell from those records what an individual's faith is. Nor are the records marked 'famous' and so 'prominent individuals' have often been discovered by accident, hence it is most certainly true that many other famous men have yet to be identified as Freemasons. The Fraternity has had as members: Actors, Admirals, Artists, Athletes, Aviators, Charitable Philanthropists, Clergymen, Comedians, Corporate Leaders, Entertainers, Explorers, Generals, Hollywood Movie Stars, Justices, Kings, Knights, Magicians, Military Men, Monarchs, Musicians, Opera Celebrities, Poets, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Scientists, Sportsmen, Statesmen, Supreme Court Chief, Writers, and probably, your next door neighbor. Many of North America’s early patriots were Freemasons. Thirteen signers of the Constitution, fourteen Presidents of the United States, including George Washington, eight Vice Presidents and forty-two Justices of the Supreme Court have been Masons. In Canada, the Father of the Confederation, was a Mason, as were other early Canadian and American leaders. In Mexico, all but two presidents have been Masons. Many Famous Native American Chiefs, among a few to mention, Chief John Ross, Chief Fields, Chief Bowles, and many more Native Americans in modern days are Freemasons. One of the most fascinating aspects of Freemasonry is how so many men, from so many different walks of life, can come together in peace and harmony, always conducting their affairs in friendship and brotherly love, thus calling each other “Brother.” Some Famous Masons Answers to Commonly Asked Questions |
